Mazda Wiper Blade Service Mode Position

Activate Your Mazda’s Wiper Service Mode in Three Simple Steps

Maintaining your Mazda’s wiper blades is essential for clear visibility and safe driving, especially during inclement weather. To make this process easier, many Mazda models feature a convenient wiper service mode that lifts the wipers into an upright position, allowing you to clean, inspect, or replace them with ease. Here’s how to activate it, whether your Mazda has a keyless start system or a traditional key ignition:

For Mazda Vehicles with Keyless Start:

  1. Enter Auxiliary Mode:
Press the START button once without pressing the brake pedal. This will power up the vehicle’s electrical systems without starting the engine. Wait for 30 seconds, then press the START button again to turn the vehicle completely off.
  2. Activate Wiper Service Mode:
Within 30 seconds of turning off the vehicle, pull the wiper stalk toward you (to activate the windshield washer spray) and hold it for 0.5 seconds. Release it, then pull and hold it again for another 0.5 seconds. The wipers will move into an upright position on the windshield, indicating that service mode is active.
  3. Return to Normal Operation:
Once you’ve finished servicing the wiper blades, start the vehicle as usual and briefly activate the wipers by pushing the wiper stalk downward. The wipers will sweep across the windshield and return to their normal resting position.

For Mazda Vehicles with a Traditional Key Ignition:

  1. Turn the Ignition to the ON Position:
Insert the key and turn it to the ON position (but do not start the engine). Wait for 5 seconds, then turn the key back to the OFF/LOCK position and remove it from the ignition.
  2. Activate Wiper Service Mode:
Within 30 seconds of turning off the ignition, pull the wiper stalk toward you (to activate the windshield washer spray) and hold it for 0.5 seconds. Release it, then pull and hold it again for another 0.5 seconds. The wipers will move into an upright position on the windshield, indicating that service mode is active.
  3. Return to Normal Operation:
Once you’ve completed your maintenance, start the vehicle as usual and briefly activate the wipers by pushing the wiper stalk downward. The wipers will sweep across the windshield and return to their normal resting position.

This user-friendly feature is just one of the many ways Mazda combines practicality and innovation to enhance your driving experience. Whether you’re replacing worn-out blades or giving them a thorough cleaning, wiper service mode makes the task quick and hassle-free, ensuring your Mazda is always ready for the road ahead.
